Dual Academy

AHS Graduates as application developers

“Our goal in Carinthia is to fill at least one class until autumn. The dual academy is an excellent opportunity for companies to do something against the shortage of skilled workers in the economy and to bring high school graduates to the company”, says Martin Zandonella, chairman of the WK experts group UBIT, and adds: “That’s why we invite every IT company to participate in the future project – Dual Academy.”

What is the Dual Academy?

The dual academy is a practice-oriented training especially for high school graduates – and thus a new, exciting alternative to university or technical college. The high school graduates complete an abbreviated apprenticeship as an application developer. Companies take over the company trainee program, which is supported by specialist theory in a vocational school and competence center with its own classes and curricula, as well as training in future skills. A stay abroad of at least one week is mandatory for the trainees. In three years, the trainees learn in a compact form what they need for the working world and are well paid for it – according to the IT collective agreement.

Grants for companies

With the Dual Academy, companies can position themselves as attractive employers and recruit AHS graduates as skilled workers. There are several funding options for commitment as a company mentor: With the AMS Funding 18+ there is 600 euros per month for all training years, external training measures and internships abroad are supported with up to 75 percent via the LEHRE.FÖRDERN program. This means that the training is financially worthwhile for trainees and companies.
