The hackathon for apprentices from all apprenticeships will take place in Carinthia for the first time in autumn this year. The innovative learning format of the Carinthian Chamber of Commerce is intended to raise the enthusiasm for information and communication technologies as well to make young talents aware of digitalization topics. Apprentices can register and take part for free until the end of August.
One app in one day?
Even young people with an affinity for IT do not have the confidence to do this. But it can be easy if you know how. That is why the Carinthian Chamber of Commerce is organizing the first apprentice hackathon as an online live event on October 6th. Apprentices from all professions between the ages of 15 and 30 are invited. During this event, participants work together in teams of two under professional guidance and develop a digital app prototype for the company, the state or the whole world in three levels of difficulty:
• Rookies – WITHOUT previous programming knowledge
• Professionals – basic technical competence
• Experts – Participants from IT apprenticeships
Promotion of digital skills
Every apprenticeship can be designed in a modern and digital way. In the course of the learning format, the youngsters acquire ideas and know-how. Digitalization makes everyday work much easier. However, it is important to reduce the fear of contact – which is possible at the apprentice hackathon in October. “The hackathon awakens unimagined potential and has a lasting positive effect on the attitudes of the participants“, says Marc Gfrerer, SIC chairman and jury member.
Learnings, Prizes and Awards
Participation is free for companies and apprentices (Digi Scheck) with the chance to win notebooks, tablets and other great prizes. At the end of the online event, the finished prototype is submitted as a project via the apprentice hackathon platform. At the award event on October 14, 2021, the best work will be honored and the winners will be invited to take part in the federal apprentice hackathon on the WKO Coding Day in Vienna.
